Social Work Field Placement Fellow

 

Will Cannon (aka Mr. C.) is a K-8 licensed educator and social worker specializing in empowering students through evidence-based practices and compassionate teaching strategies. As a teacher with the Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD), he utilizes his background in engineering, emergency medicine, behavioral health, and education to create an inclusive classroom setting tailored to support diverse learners.

Mr. C. is dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where students feel safe to learn, grow, and thrive. His philosophy is rooted in the African saying "Ubuntu," which translates to "I am because we are." Ubuntu is an ancient African philosophy based on the core principle of interconnectedness, compassion, and community bonds. These principles define our very existence, prioritizing collective well-being over strict individualism. Mr. C. has joined WMBK as a University of Michigan, Ann Arbor School of Social Work, MSW candidate field intern.
